I got this truly effortless recipe from my new favorite cookbook (Make it Fast, Cook it Slow) and I don't think that I will ever make these any other way! Thanks to an old friend who suggested using a plastic liner (no clean-up!!!)
Here goes:
3 tablespoons of butter (or margarine)
1 bag of marshmallows (I had the little ones on hand, not sure how big that bag is but I think it's pretty standard!)
6 cups of "crisped" rice cereal
Directions (really, these are SO SIMPLE!)
Put the butter in the stoneware. Dump in the marshmallows. Dump the cereal on top. Put the lid on. Turn the cooker on high. Wait for 1 hour. Stir up the mess until the cereal is coated. Press the "mess" into a baking pan - or use whatever you have around, just make sure to be careful of the heat. I also spray my hands with cooking spray to make things easier, but you don't have to.
One thing, I made this in my 6 quart slow cooker. If you use a smaller one, you may not have enough room to stir. I guess you could just melt the butter and the marshmallows and then, pour that out into a larger bowl.
Happy eating!
